Blades of Glory: Unleash Your Inner Ice Ninja! ❄️⛸️

As winter graces Colorado's mountain towns, trade your snow boots for skates and twirl into the enchanting world of outdoor ice skating. Here are three frozen wonderlands that promise a skate-tastic experience

Lake City - Lake San Cristobal
  • Just south of downtown Lake City, Colorado’s second largest natural lake, Lake San Cristobal, is host to ice skating that typically begins in December, depending on weather. The lake freezes over into crystal-clear ice that is incredibly smooth and ready for your skate’s blades. Eat up the ice as you race your family and enjoy your time amid the jaw-dropping mountain scenery covered in snow.

Steamboat Springs - Howelsen Ice Arena
  • Location: Howelsen Hill, Steamboat Springs' iconic winter playground, hosts the Howelsen Ice Arena. Lace-up your skates and swirl around this outdoor rink framed by the Yampa Valley's breathtaking scenery. Open to skaters of all levels, it's an ideal spot for families and friends to share the joy of gliding under the open sky.

Telluride - Reflection Plaza Ice Rink
  • Location: Tucked within the stunning Mountain Village, the Reflection Plaza Ice Rink offers a magical setting for ice skating enthusiasts. Surrounded by boutique shops and alpine architecture, this rink invites you to pirouette beneath the stars. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot cocoa at one of the nearby cafes.

Whether you're a figure-skating aficionado or a novice twirler, these outdoor ice skating rinks in Colorado's mountain towns beckon with the promise of crisp mountain air and the joy of winter

West of 105 Logo Beanie

We recently launched a West of 105 online store where we will be adding new things every week, but primarily T-shirts with a few calendars and some other bits and pieces. The majority of things in the store will be our own unique designs, but we are partnering with a few people from around the state to offer various products. One of our first partnerships is with landscape photographer Julien Kibler. His calendar of amazing images of Colorado is available now. Click here to see and order it. We also have a really fun calendar of “Angry Animals of Colorado,” which you can see here.
