Autumn at Mesa Verde and Great Sand Dunes National Parks

Fall is the perfect time to visit two of the most unique national parks in the country

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is as spectacular as it is otherworldly. Venturing out among the highest dunes in North America offers a very unique Colorado experience you simply can't find anywhere else in this great state, but with the dunes taking up less than one-eight of the park and preserve, there is so much more to explore.

On the other side of the state is another national park that is just as unique. Established in 1906 by Theodore Roosevelt to protect the dwellings that were built by the Ancestral Puebloans between 550 A.D. and 1300 A.D., Mesa Verde National Park is the seventh oldest in the National Park System, it is also recognized as a UNSECO World Heritage Site.
